Music of Today at SNG 48 – NON-STOP – hommage à Bogusław SchäfferMusic of today in SNG

ISCM – Slovak Section, InMusic, the Slovak National Gallery, and RE_PATCHED ensemble invite you to the 48th concert of the “Music of Today at SNG” series, taking place on November 13, 2024, at 5 PM.

The “Music of Today at SNG” project has been a fixture in Bratislava since 2011, thanks to Daniel Matej – a slovak composer, performer, and conductor. This upcoming concert is no exception, though it promises to be even more extraordinary than usual. The program, NON-STOP, is part of a significant project called RE_PATCHED.

RE_PATCHED was initiated in April this year in Novi Sad as the result of a creative residency involving ten artists from Visegrad Four countries and Serbia. It is dedicated to the memory of one of the most prominent figures of the European post-war avant-garde, Polish composer Bogusław Schäffer (1929 – 2019). Schäffer’s work transcended the boundaries of “pure” music, crossing into various art forms (particularly theater and visual arts) in ways that were unparalleled among his contemporaries. The intermedia fusions that emerged from his work were often among the first of their kind.

For the concert at the Slovak National Gallery (SNG), the RE_PATCHED ensemble has prepared a program that includes sound interpretations of Schäffer’s graphic works and graphic scores, interspersed with multiple versions of perhaps his most famous work, NON-STOP.

As part of the RE_PATCHED project, two concerts have already been held in the residents’ countries. More information about the residency and the concerts can be found on the website of the Art Ritam organization.
